The Air Jordan 1 High OG x V.A.A. Alaska marks a new chapter in the creative legacy left by Virgil Abloh. Nearly ten years after the groundbreaking “The Ten” collection, this release stands as one of the most anticipated collaborations of 2026, bringing the silhouette that forever changed the relationship between sneakers, fashion, and contemporary design back to the center stage.
This model is the first global project officially linked to the Virgil Abloh Archive, which houses over 20,000 works and documents related to the designer’s work across fashion, architecture, art, and culture. More than just a tribute, the sneaker continues the creative dialogue between Off-White and Jordan Brand, a collaboration that redefined how sneakers can tell stories through materials, details, and concepts.
The Air Jordan 1 has always held a special meaning for Virgil Abloh. Growing up near Chicago, Abloh saw Michael Jordan as an almost mythological icon, a symbol of ambition and possibility. It was this emotional bond that led him to choose the Jordan 1 as the first silhouette to deconstruct in his historic project with Nike, transforming it into one of the most influential models in modern sneaker culture.
The new Air Jordan 1 High Virgil Abloh Archive Alaska (V.A.A.) retains the visual language that made Abloh’s work famous: exposed foam tongue, orange tab on the Swoosh, and “AIR” lettering on the midsole. The white leather upper with ice blue accents gives the sneaker a clean, futuristic aesthetic, which is why the community has already nicknamed it “Alaska.” The launch will be accompanied by a series of V.A.A. World’s Fair events organized in cities key to Abloh’s career, including Chicago, Paris, London, New York, and Tokyo, celebrating his lasting impact on the world of design.
